Nokia is going for the double whammy today with the announcement that long-suffering Lumia Windows Phone 7 users will finally be getting the 7.8 update today
Nokia has announced that the Lumia 620 with Windows Phone 8 is out today on O2 with UK pricing starting at £149.99 for PAYG or from free on contract. The company also announced that its original Lumia Windows Phone 7 handsets would start getting the Windows Phone 7.8 update starting today.
The Lumia 620 is the latest budget Windows Phone 8 handset from the Finnish smartphone maker and features a pretty respectable 1GHz dual-core processor along with 512MB of RAM and expandable storage up to 64GB thanks to a micro SD card slot.
With a 3.8-inch 800x480 display the 620 boasts a slightly higher density screen than its larger sibling the Lumia 820 however comes with only a 5MP snapper on the back.
To make up for it the Lumia 620 has interchangeable backs letting you choose betwen a variety of colours, or if you have the know how you can 3D print your own.
The Finnish company also revealed that Windows Phone 7.8 would be heading to its earlier Lumia devices today with the Lumia 510, 610, 710, 800 and 900 all getting the update from today.
