40 New LG Mobiles To Be Launch in India This Year

LG Electronics India Private Limited is planning to launch 35 to 40 new LG mobiles in India this year according to Vishal Chopra, business head (mobile communications).

"As part of our mixed product strategy, we are focusing on mid and high-end phones. Of the 40 new models that we are lining up for the domestic market, 10 to 12 models will be 3G-powered with a price tag of between Rs 8,999 and Rs 35,000," Chopra told mediapersons here on Thursday.

"We are seeing the trend of more sales in the high-end category, which will give us a value growth," he said, adding the company at present was enjoying an eight per cent share of the Indian market, and expected this to grow to 10 per cent in the current January-to-December financial year.

The company would be adding four more 3G-enabled variants to its LG Optimus series by March-April this year, besides looking at sub-Rs 10,000 models in the near future, he said, while declining to comment further.

Chopra said the company had earmarked Rs 250 crore towards above-the-line (ATL) and below-the-line (BTL) activities, including Rs 100 crore for the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup and retail development for the current financial year.

Polytron Technologies from Taiwan has unveiled the world’s first transparent cellphone. The phone’s prototype rolled out to many surprises and one should rather be appalled than anything else at the coming of such a concept. Taiwan firm to launch a transparent cellphone. This is the first transparent mobile phone in the world has ever seen. Although the new form of prototype, Polytron Technologies hopes transparent phone later this could be a hit or popular.

In fact, when examined more clearly, the phone is not 100% transparent correctly. There are still some parts that look. Maybe it will add another layer that will be close to perfection so that components are not visible. Polytron Technologies said it will release this phone at the end of 2013. Galaxy S IV to launch on March

Samsung will unveil its next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S IV, in New York on March 14.

The consumer electronics giant alerted the press by e-mail on Monday, inviting them to Radio City Music Hall for the big event. The mid-March launch has been rumored since September, a mere three months after the Galaxy S III went on sale in the United States, and it’s coming just nine months after the S III hit U.S. carriers.

Although we’ve heard a zillion rumors about the launch (most of which pegged the S IV’s debut for March), we’ve heard little in the way of speculation on specifications, aside from the idea that the S IV will have a larger display than the III, which sports a 4.8-inch touchscreen. That said, a lot is expected of the S IV. After all, the S III was sold across all four major carriers in the U.S. (AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon), and it offered a laundry list of impressive specs and features. And, thanks in part to massive marketing push, the S III has sold more than 30-million handsets worldwide.

As for the timing of the S IV, nine months may seem ridiculously quick, but Samsung often announces devices a month or two ahead of them actually going on sale. Also, the company also has a reputation for releasing a major new device every few months. Samsung’s Galaxy Note II was announced in August, and went on sale in the U.S. in November. The Galaxy S III was announced in May and went on sale in June.

Samsung Galaxy S4 launch Expert predicts big things from camera sensor tech

Expanded camera sensor functionality will set Samsung Galaxy S4 apart from the competition, one industry expert tells us. So, expect more features like Smart Stay.

While the tech world continues to debate whether the Samsung Galaxy S4 will have an eight-core processor or display size over 5-inches, one industry expert thinks it could be new camera sensor technology that impresses the most when the device debuts in a couple of weeks.
In an interview with T3, IDC’s Lead Researcher for Mobile, Ramon Llamas predicts Samsung will build significantly on the front-facing camera technology it successfully introduced with the S3.
The Smart Stay functionality, which picks up whether users are reading the screen and overrides dimming and time-out settings, was one of the most innovative features the S3 brought to the table. Llamas says to expect more of the same, come the Samsung Unpacked event on March 14 in New York city.
He told T3: “The big thing for me is going to be the camera. It’s one of the most often used features on the phone, but I think it’s important in more ways than just taking pictures.
“What else can you do with that camera? Specifically the sensor. We’ve gone through this entire generation of ‘what different sensors can you have on your phone’ and been so gaga about having an accelerometer here and a gyrometer there. I think that’s great, but using the camera sensor to activate or deactivate has to be number one going forward.”
The tech could be used to accept or reject calls, perhaps turn off an alarm clock and even open apps without touching the device, Llamas said.
He added: “Having a feature that can sense when I’m reading the screen [Smart Stay] is awesome, but let’s break it down to a larger use case.
“Suppose that you get a phone call and the Galaxy S4 is sitting on your desk. Instead of having to pick up the phone, just wave your hand over it from right to left in order to take the call.
“But if another phone call comes in from your landlord or something you could swipe your hand from left to right to say “I’m not going to take that call right now.
“Do you want to turn your alarm clock off? Do you want to launch an application? Do you want to start an email? There are so many possibilities.”
